Like Polaroid film? Better start hoarding

Polaroid, famed for photographic prints that develop within moments, is getting out of the film business.

The company is shutting down two plants in Massachusetts used to make film for professionals and artists this quarter, The Boston Globe reported Friday. A similar plant in Mexico and one in the Netherlands for making consumer film packages will close by the end the year, and the company already has stopped making instant-film cameras, Polaroid said.

The Massachusetts-based company is interested in licensing its film technology to others, but if it doesn't happen, its film will likely run out in 2009. Meanwhile, Polaroid is making a go of selling flat-panel TVs and digital photography.

remember teen angst?

given my lack of mobility and subsequent mental unrest, this came to mind.
my dad gave me this cd and my first box, with a cd player for my birthday in 8th grade.
reminds me of when mtv actually played music videos, wearing scrunchies, crushing on a boy i'd end up dating for years to come[that i can't believe ever happened now cause all we had in common were things like being good at sports, not doing homework, smoking ciggies, and being mad at our parents--all of which 'cept the smoking are no longer applicable], timing chuck and gayatri kissing for over 48 minutes straight on a field trip to gettysburg, revlon outrageous shampoo, the grunge movement by way of prep school jersey. you know, hardcore shit.

remember adventures in babysitting?

i used to have a four poster bed to use as a microphone too.
and i once went on a double date with my gal mariana with two older boys. we got gussied, they wore sweatpants. o top it off we saw the movie, Rudy.
elizabeth shue-so relate-able.

have i told you that i'm sick of being sick?

seriously though, it's been over 2 weeks and two different diagnosis'. a jasper johns opening, goodbye party, 2 birthday parties, engagement party, fashion week everything, superbowl party, 2 art show deadlines, a paying foto gig, BUST party, voting on super tuesday...i mean i don't mean to complain, it's just that i being debilitated is lame.. and it's driving me bonkers.

back to hands on art.

after weeks on the web and with the camera, it was time to do some painting.
i woke up in a bad mood the other day, in no small part because of latent fatigue stemming from aforementioned illness.
however, i realized it was also in large part due to lack of mixed-media hands-dirtying. i get pissed off, deeply,if i don't make time to work with these. so i put down the laptop and took out the oils.
they are so frickin' close to being done and showable/sellable. allowing me to move on from this body of work-of which most canvases were started on in 2005..3 years later 3 of them are nearly there.

had to admit myself into the hospital today

my brother came over, he read the back of the tylenol bottle-where it states, if the fever continues for longer than 3 days, one should see a professional..[my temperature had gotten up to 104 twice in the last 2 days, and this all started tuesday night].anyhow, given that it was a saturday, our only choice was to walk..or baby-cripple step for me up to st vincents on 7th and 13th..
after waiting for 2 hours, they let me in but didn't let xabi in. so solo i went.
there i was in the midst of a whole bunch of sickies. and we're all just laying in our respective gurneys in one big long room staring at the folks across the room. watching the emt's bringing in guys with chest pain, a lady and a guy who looked already pale and dead, and a gal who'd suffered a seizure-to name a few.
add to said excitement was the symphony of beeps from ekg's and other metering devices along with the crazy-ers yelling for assorted demands-sandwiches, nurses, doctors, urinals..really ran the gamut.
had 3 iv's..pics to come manana.
[p.s. i definitely saw some dudes creepy ass by mistake]
