helmut lang, the artist, opens "next never after" at the journal gallery

Helmut Lang Comes Back… With Art
Godfrey Deeny
December 07th, 2007 @ 12:07 AM - Paris
The most influential designer of the late Nineties, Helmut Lang, returns to the creative fray next week, but with art not fashion...
The show marks the first solo exhibition of the Austrian born designer, who quit the world of fashion two years ago walking out of the house he created after badly falling out with its majority owner, the Prada Group.
Ten unique studies for Next Ever After appear in the Winter 2007 issue of the journal, part of a 20-page Lang feature that includes a conversation with renowned curator Neville Wakefield, in which the artist/designer discusses his views on, among other things, the relationship between art and fashion. In effect, the show is the culmination of a yearlong collaboration between Lang and the journal, an independent arts and culture magazine.
The magazine, the journal, titles itself as a cultural barometer for contemporary art, publishing exclusive portfolios of and conversations with artists such as Dash Snow, Rita Ackerman, Ryan McGinley, Ari Marcopoulos, Dan Colen, Wolfgang Tillmans and Susan Cianciolo.

least favorite carrie moment
i mean, maybe it's just me, but i think..wait until you get back from st. barth's to break it off, you goon.. he might, very well, have said you were the one on the beach..seriously, have you ever been to st. barth's?
the beaches gorgeous, the shopping opportunities-ample, the crepes-stellar, and the people watching is totally righteous.
besides that, everybody speaks french. c'est tres romantique!
on top of it all, she totally nailed her jetset travel outfit. if nothing else, one shouldn't waste that kind of fashion fun.
dunno but i've honestly been upset about this very scene for years.
wednesday
we talk for about २० minutes a week.

he's got a lot of complaints and a lot of knowledge. spanning from brooklyn bodegas to utah mormons. he likes my paintings. he painted a mural at springsteen's ashbury park venue back in the day. he's toured with a shitload of bands. he was super jazzed yesterday, he just got a ny state drivers licence, so he doesn't have to fly or do trains anymore. he's gonna smoke joints and cruise himself to miami soon. and nobody's going to take his lighters away anymore, he doen't believe in that. it was better when he could pick up his guitars, bop over to jfk to buy his ticket and be in miami in a few short hours. fucking terrorists have totally f-ed wth his freedom and fluidity.
