greenpoint backyard dreams and the interior

audrey got into the chorizo. the plants into the ashtray. us in the plants. them with the contacts. and the stove was left on. a very nice evening. [aside from the butthole exclaimations]

josh wiles feast

wowza.mr. wiles has a real knack for this. upstaging marlow's brick chicken, which xabi and i had two nights ago, this was way better.

amanda's house of fun and curiousities

new work old work.old stuff cool stuff.

kara walker opening at the whitney

a serendipitous evening of gabbing with linnea [gracias to the subway operator on the downtown F for closing the doors in my face].. was spent gorging on chicken skewers and cheese. there was people watching aplenty. we participated in games ranging from fashion do's and don't's to 'is that my friend'. while dodging the anti smoking security guard and that chick who asked us if she could talk to us..how do you politely decline such a query. we didn't know but did our best to wrap it up as quickly as we could.

able to scoot with some difficulty

took the bus for the maybe the 3rd time ever. not actually that efficient. as scooters are hard to navigate on board.. i definitely could have walked faster.
but it was no doubt an interesting cultural experience. people who take the bus seem a bit off kilter..for example, the woman sitting ahead of me turned around to tell me (with hardcore conviction) how crazy and even evil the women in new york are. now, she was looking at the toothless crackhead lady seated at the front (talking to herself in slippers), which made some sense. though, her diatribe along with her cross eyed glare seemed to categorize herself as a like minded species. further confirming her evilness, she proceeded to complain about how all these foreigners move here and don't learn english! i tried to politely respond in a positive melting pot kind of way but she wasn't having it. she bid farewell, i gave likewise pleasantries as she got off at st. mark's.

central park journal writing view east

went for a jaunt into the park after therapy. did some writing and processing. and figured out how to do long exposures on my camera. [tech skills improving daily]

hawk sighting in tompkins square park

a (mars) hawk spotted on the west side of the park yesterday, allegedly waiting for the perfect pigeon. he caused quite a scene.

levee bar and someplace else

we almost went to bembe. we almost went to galapagos. but we ended up elsewhere's. discussions ranged from the merits of shooting from above (the ladies look better) to the pros and cons of therapy. we made some new friends we'll never see again. and did a lot of hugging with old friends who we will be seeing much more! free twizzlers and straws in beers, sticker foto booth shots and man who had no shot and a gal who should've gone home hours ago. it's best to be at home when you find yourself asleep. just sayin', keep it cool.

berry and beyond bedford

marlow and sons

a dinner party at marlow was had to welcome two most fabulous recruits to nyc, kat and alvin. we were joined by a blissed out sinton, who came straight from yoga (and tai chi and pilates- apparently it can be a full time job to stay centered.)the wine was sparkling as was the conversation.

sharita sunshine

i spent the day organizing negatives and uploading onto youtube. and she did what she usually does. sleep in the window. sleep on the bed. and wake up for the late afternoon sun and some downward dog..going to williamsburg for dinner with our new recruits, kat and alvin. perhaps chato and sinton will join as well. check back.

american aside

left keys and thank you dinner

after our weekend away and big talks and website editing, xabi departed and arrived in park slope only to find out that his keys were on my kitchen table. the nice thing to do seemed to be, a personal delivery. once again cursing the lack of interns or assistants or even a scant messenger. i went the way of yonder and was treated to a delightful dinner at palo santo. i had pork. he had lamb. we split a very soupy but no less delicious creme brulee. the host recommended wonderful wine and a malbeck porto. i left full and with two full binders of negatives, integral shots for the updating of the website.

"quogue blog"

sunday was a perfect day. truely spectacular. i felt like we were living in some kind of hipster j.crew catalogue. (and cedez and i were able to take our 2007 beach polaroid..a near miss given that it's already november. and we've done one ever year since 2001.)

drive around town

salvation army hunt led to the whales and seals. the chicken quest led to neon pups. the wine tasting led to a llama and champagne flutes.
